The Witcher is coming to Krakow

CD Projekt, a Polish game development potentate, the authors of The Witcher, have announced that they will open their division in Krakow in the summer. This proves that the Krakow games industry has a future.
The video games industry is one of the most intensively developing sectors of the economy in Poland. Krakow draws in both the experts and lovers of this field. The city has the European Games Centre, a cluster being the first Polish initiative to gather the key participants of the production and distribution of electronic entertainment products.
FMF at the Varèse Sarabande anniversary gala

This coming Saturday (the 11th of May), a gala concert will be held at the Warner Grand Theater in San Pedro on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of the foundation of Varèse Sarabande, the largest record label in the world publishing music of the most eminent film music composers. The audience will listen to compositions from productions such as The Fast and the Furious, Star Trek and Matrix, and stars such as Diego Navarro, John Powell, and Brian Tyler will appear in the auditorium. The piano part from Driving Miss Daisy will be performed by Hans Zimmer himself. Representatives of the FMF – Film Music Festival in Krakow have also been invited to take part in the celebration. We are truly honoured!
Lola Award for Werner Herzog

Werner Herzog – one of the most eminent German screenwriters and directors – was awarded the prestigious German Film Academy LOLA Award for lifetime achievement last weekend. LOLA Awards are considered to be the German equivalent of the Oscars. As a filmmaker and visionary, he remains in constant movement with unremitting courage, and he not only creates great feature films, but also redefines and expands the boundaries of documentary cinema – reads the substantiation. We would like to remind you that on the second day of this year’s edition of the FMF – Film Music Festival in Krakow, we will listen to music from Werner Herzog’s films.
Olympus Has Fallen in cinemas

Today (the 26th of April), action film fans can finally see Antoine Fuqua’s the long-awaited Olympus Has Fallen. The director of such films as the legendary Training Day or Brooklyn’s Finest again goes for the well-tried recipe: facing a terrorist attack, the protagonist tries to save the world from a global disaster. The soundtrack for the American blockbuster was composed by Trevor Morris, a rising Hollywood star, a Canadian composer and a guest of this year’s 6th edition of the FMF – Film Music Festival.
The Polish premiere of the Iglesias—Almodovar coproduction

On the 10th of May, the Polish premiere of I’m So Excited, another project by Pedro Almodóvar, an outstanding director, and Alberto Iglesias, one of the most widely recognised Spanish composers, will take place. This famous duo has already worked together on such films as: Broken Embraces, Bad Education or Talk to Her, which won the 2003 Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Known for choosing proven actors, Almodóvar has again gone for the names that have already appeared in his films: Penélope Cruz, Antonio Banderas, Javier Cámara. The world premiere will take place on the 8th of May.

A concert of Spanish composer Alberto Iglesias – winner of the most prestigious film awards, who has collaborated with Pedro Almodóvar for 18 years – will inaugurate this year’s 6th Film Music Festival in Krakow on the 26th of September. Two extraordinary music events will take place the following day: first (at 7 p.m.) music for the films of Werner Herzog, one of the most outstanding German screenwriters and film directors, will be performed, and at 10 p.m. a concert of Valgeir Sigurðsson, an Icelandic producer, composer, musician and founder of the famous Icelandic label Bedroom Community, will take place at the Małopolska Garden of Arts. And on the 28th of September (Saturday) we invite everyone to the Tinning Plant of ArcelorMittal Poland in Krakow for the Great RMF Classic Birthday Gala, during which pieces written by ten composers for the best films, huge TV productions and Polish and American TV series will be performed. The composers will attend the gala as special guests. Normal tickets and block tickets for festival concerts can be purchased as of tomorrow (Friday, the 26th of April) from 10 a.m. via eventim.pl and in three locations of the InfoKrakow Tourist Information Network: at ul. św. Jana 2, at the Wyspiański Pavilion (pl. Wszystkich Świętych 2), and at the Tourist Services Centre (ul. Powiśle 11).
