Magical world of animation — Disney • Pixar at Krakow Arena!

Get ready for a very special multimedia event! Just before International Children’s Day, on 30th May, at 11.00 am, Krakow Arena will host the first concert show of excerpts from soundtracks to fourteen full-length Pixar productions. Powerful live symphonic music and lavish visual scenes will introduce children to the world of symphonic music by four multiple award-wining composers performed by the Beethoven Academy Orchestra. A Lonely Man on TVP Kultura

At the 3rd FMF-Film Music Festival in Krakow, the outstanding composer Shigeru Umebayashi presented a piece of his soundtrack for Tom Ford’s film A Lonely Man. The soundtrack was co-created with the unusually talented and highly acclaimed Polish composer Abel Korzeniowski. If you like A Lonely Man and the soundtrack created for the film, we recommend today’s broadcasting on TVP Kultura. Starts at 9:50 pm.

 
 
FMF – Film Music Festival wins ‘Event of the Year’ award for the sixth time!

The FMF-Film Music Festival was recognised as the Event of the Year at Resume 2013 plebiscite organised by the portal MuzykaFilmowa.pl. ‘One, two, three, four, five, six – yes, FMF has won in our contest for the sixth time already, so it is becoming well-established in this event. Perhaps we might be a little monothematic – we can see from the list of nominees that there were a lot of entertainment events outside Krakow. But we couldn’t help it, as the former capital of Poland is still brimming with ideas, creating new programmes and most importantly - music. This year the new, seventh edition of the event is being prepared. We can’t wait to write similar things about it next year’ – we can read in the justification of the award.

 
 
Abel Korzeniowski continues to garner praise for his work

- Words cannot describe 230 seconds of the music composed by Korzeniowski. The finale piece is one of the finest compositions ever written as a film score – says the journalist of Cinematic Sound Radio about the soundtrack of Escape from Tomorrow, composed by Abel Korzeniowski. Erik Woods’ ranking recognises the score to Escape from Tomorrow as the best soundtrack of the year.<

 
 
Krakow: the musical capital of Poland

Readers of Dziennik Polski have selected their favourites for the title of Cracovian of the Year 2013. The winner in the Culture category is Robert Piaskowski – Deputy Director for Programme Planning at the Krakow Festival Office, Programme Director of FMF-Film Music Festival and project co-ordinator of the Krakow – City of Literature project.
